WELLINGTON AFC's winning run was ended at two games, as hosts Hallen triumphed 2-1 on Saturday.

The home side took an early lead through Jamel Fisher, and remained 1-0 ahead at the interval.

Charlie Bridges equalised for the Tangerines, only for Kyle Thomas to score the winner from the penalty spot with just five minutes to go.

The result leaves Wellington 14th in the Premier Division standings, and this Saturday they are at home to second-bottom Shortwood United, who are yet to pick up a point this season (3pm kick-off).

Toolstation Western League
First Division
Bishops Lydeard 1, Ashton & Backwell United 2

BISHOPS Lydeard have fallen to 13th in the First Division table, after a second consecutive league defeat, against Ashton & Backwell United on Saturday.

Luke Desave gave hosts Lydeard the lead on the half-hour, turning in Mark Clunie's cross, but two goals from Harry Walker - the first a long-range stunner - proved their undoing.

Lydeard pressed for an equaliser, but some fine defending and excellent goalkeeping frustrated them.

Next up is a Les Phillips Cup tie away to Radstock Town tonight (ko 7.30pm), and Lydeard then go to Oldland Abbotonians on Saturday (ko 3pm).

WATCHET Town sit third in the Premier Division standings of the Somerset County League, after a 1-0 home win over Nailsea United on Saturday.

Jamie Milton scored the only goal of the game, with a towering header in the second half.

Both sides had a man sent off; Nailsea's Robert Brown for kicking out at Charley Clausen, and Watchet's Ben Robinson for dissent after a seemingly obvious corner kick was not given.

In Division 1, Minehead AFC won 1-0 at basement side Long Ashton, courtesy of an own goal.

They are eighth in the table, and Staplegrove sit ninth, after they were held 2-2 at home by Yatton & Cleeve United.

Jack Lewis and Josh Stancer scored the hosts' goals, with Alex Bird and Kofi Martin replying.

This coming Saturday, Watchet host Stockwood Green, Minehead entertain Hengrove Athletic Reserves, and Staplegrove are at home to Mendip Broadwalk (all ko 3pm).
