THIRTY-TWO Seniors attended the 4 Ball better ball competition at Cricket St Thomas Golf Club last Monday, when light showers materialised. 

There were some competitive pairs drawn out, and just two points separated the first three places. 

The team of Danny Dowell and Jim McDonald were the ultimate winners, one point above the second-placed team.

Result: 1. Danny Dowell & Jim McDonald - 43 pts; 2. Jerry Blackburn & John McOmish - 42 pts; 3. Jerry Stephens & Ian Housham - 41 pts

On Wednesday, 63 Seniors turned out for the Silver Salver trophy, played as a three-man Texas Scramble. 

Eight of the 21 teams managed sub-60 rounds as the course played short due to weather conditions. 

But in top spot by some margin was the team led by Roger Davis, four clear of their nearest rivals.

Result: 1. Roger Davis; Ray Gudge & Ron Sutherland - 53.83; 2. Martin Bargery; Mike Hone & Nick Hill - 57.85; 3. Chris Gingell; Paul Prendergast & Nick Gabb - 58.17

On Thursday, the Senior Saints match team travelled to Brean to play against their Seniors.

There, they met a very strong Brean side, and although the games were quite even, they failed to convert any to wins and suffered a 6-0 whitewash.

The EGGS section of the seniors played their Captains Bowmaker competition on Friday.

Outright winners by seven points were Tony Church, Bert Robinson, Keith Segal and Alan Davis, who returned a combined score of 121 points.

Meanwhile, 44 other seniors played a 4 ball better ball competition in muggy conditions, with the winners recording a massive 51 points.
