BRIDGWATER batsman Will Smeed scored a superb century for Somerset's 2nd XI against Sussex yesterday - and made runs with a childhood hero in the process.
The 16-year-old, who plays his club cricket for Bridgwater CC, came in at number five and added 91 runs alongside Marcus Trescothick, who made a century of his own on his return to action following a broken metatarsal.

Smeed's half-century came from 80 balls and he continued to impress against a strong Sussex attack, featuring England pace prospect George Garton among others.
Having helped add 70 for the fourth wicket with Ben Green, Smeed reached his century with a cut to the third-man boundary and received a warm ovation from his teammates and the supporters at Taunton Vale.
