Bradford Town 3, Wellington 0

WELLINGTON gave debuts to Joe Chamberlain and George Painter, but their tough run of away matches in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division continued with another loss.

The newly-promoted side fell behind to Will Hailston, who fired home from the edge of the area, and they were denied an equaliser as Jack Bryant's effort was well saved by home goalkeeper Jamie Bartlett.

Just three minutes into the second half, it was 2-0, as Anthony Conradi headed in Martin Lenihan's free-kick.

Wellington probed for a way back into the game, but a succession of corners proved fruitless, and Dan Cottle finished the game off after a flowing move from the hosts.

Clive Jones' side go in search of their first league points tomorrow, away to Wells City (ko 7.30pm), ahead of a trip to Shepton Mallet on Saturday (ko 3pm).

Ashton & Backwell United Reserves 3, Minehead 1

MINEHEAD began their season with a disappointing loss at Ashton & Backwell United Reserves.

Thomas Smart gave the hosts an early lead, only for Guy Burns to level the scores on the half-hour mark, beating two defenders and finishing well.

But Smart restored his side's lead, profiting from a mistake by Minehead keeper Nathan Sheehan, and the game was made safe in the 71st minute, as Jason Radnedge fired in.

Minehead are next in action on Saturday, when they travel to Glastonbury (ko 3pm).
