DESPITE the final format of the re-vamped Super Series rotation being a pairs event, one player certainly dominated proceedings.

Dan Reason produced a stunning round off his 26 handicap to provide the basis of the winning score for himself and Jeff Read.

In the Betterball Medal format on Sunday the pair returned a remarkable nett 51, 18 under par, to win by six from Roger Phillips and Tony Romeo.

Reason did much of the damage but Read also featured on the card along the way.

Reason bagged the only two of the day at the 17th as well as the pair collected the bulk of the prizes on offer.

Third place went to Ray Rushman and Mike Hurman on 59.

Rushman had an impressive weekend as he had the low round of the day in Saturday’s June Stableford with 43 points to bring him Division Three success.

He also enjoyed the largest winning margin of the three divisions as he ended five points clear of John Ham.

Stewart Garrett headed the Division Two scorecharts with a solid round of 42 points which reduced his handicap by a couple of shots.
Brian Read was the runner up to Garrett on 38.

Russell Shaw was the final winner of the day with his Division One win after carding 41 points leaving him two clear of Jason Kidley in second.

Birthday boy Bill Griffin produced another stunning round to win the third and final round of the Seniors Captains Cup.

Having won the opening round two weeks previously with a nett 61, he was sat in pole position heading into this event.

On Tuesday morning he continued in the same vein, ensuring no one would get a chance to challenge him by returning a best of the day nett 64 on the day he turned 82.

This was two better than the rest of the field and not surprisingly gave him a very comfortable nine-stroke winning margin over Roger Phillips, who finished up in second place overall.

Runner-up on the day was Barrie Tucker on 66 as he defeated Pete Douglas after a countback.

Barrie Yearsley was awarded third spot in the overall event on 136.

The Ladies’ June Medal went to Sue Wright who negotiated a breezy Thursday better than the rest of the field.

On a day when scoring was difficult due to the firm ground and the strong wind, she beat Liz Blackwell into second with Gail Mason being awarded third.

Matt Haskins won the Midweek Stableford with his 41 point card on Wednesday.

Haskins has been a steady performer this season and he ended two clear of runner-up Steve Eley, who had to fend off tough competition from Trevor Searle on countback for that position.

Eley had the better back nine to relegate Searle to third.
