DAVE Channon, playing off a handicap of nine, stormed round Vivary Golf course in the Seniors Championship and carried off the two premier trophies.

His 68 was enough for him to win the Dave Carter Trophy for the best gross score by four shots from Graham Stagg, who finished on 72, and Keith Wood, one further away on 73.

His remarkable round of golf also enabled him to take away the Alex Field Cup for the best nett score of 59, just one in front of Mike Gough and Steven Baker both on 60 - Gough took second with a better back nine.

The Pat Carey Bogey finished with three players on plus five but count-back ensured that Graham Morris was placed first, John Blissitt second and Steve Baker third.

Phil Nicholls played a faultless round to record 43 points and win the Reg Fortnum Stableford. 

He was followed in by Dave Thomas on 41 and Mark Lane on 40 points.

The Seniors June Medal was won by Dave Thomas with a 61 the same score as Dai Lloyd who had to settle for second on count-back. 

Four players came home with 63 of whom Chris Stone had the best back nine. 

The Vivary Sixes was closely fought but the team of Ken Tomlinson, John Troke, Phil Nicholls and Dave Hinton won with 85 points.

Three behind were the team of Steve Berry, Dave Thomas, Colin Woodford and Dave Beale.

OVER at Oake Manor, Charles St George won the Seniors Gross and Nett Championships played on Monday. 

Charles scored an excellent nett 66, Michael Bright was runner up in the gross competition with a score of 77 and Alex Antill was runner up in the nett competition with a score of nett 68.

Jenny Musgrove won the Eileen Scragg Salver on Tuesday, this is an 18-hole stableford competition for ladies who did not play in the 36 hole Championship.

Jenny won Division 1 with 35 points, Diane Whittaker was second with 31 points and Patricia Frazer third with 29 points. 

Ros Shepherd was Division 2 winner with 34 points, second was Jeannette Jones with 33 points and Pip Verge came third with 32 points.

Chris Falltrick won the Wednesday Midweek Stableford Competition with a score of 37 points, Robert Clark was second also with 37 points and Steve Manlow was third with 35 points.
