HAVING lost the derby to Taunton St Andrew’s last weekend, Taunton Deane will be hoping for an improvement on Saturday as they host Taunton in another local clash.

Deane and Taunton are more than likely to be without Somerset duo Jack Leach and Tom Abell, respectively, as the pair - who have each represented their club sides in the early weeks of the campaign - are set to be in action against Warwickshire in a crucial County Championship match at the Cooper Associates County Ground.

The visitors make the short trip protecting a 100% record having pulled off a narrow win at Keynsham last time out, and currently sit second in the fledgling WEPL Premier 2 table.

The only side above them, Taunton St Andrew’s - led by captain and opening batsman James Regan, who has flown out the traps with 220 runs in his first two innings - travel to Shapwick & Polden looking to keep their impressive start to the season going.

In WEPL Somerset, Wellington go in search of their first league victory of the campaign as they host North Perrott.

Welly narrowly lost a low-scoring match at Staplegrove on Saturday and sit bottom after two matches, while North Perrott go into the weekend off the back of consecutive victories.

Elsewhere in the division, Staplegrove are in for a tough test against early pace-setters Weston-super-Mare, who have assembled a strong line-up and already look like the team to beat in the division.

In the Shrubbery Hotel Somerset League Premier Division, Ashbrittle look to bring their losing run to an end as they host Street, while Huish & Langport welcome Kilve in Division 3.

Trull entertain Wembdon 2nds in Division 4, with Curry Rivel on the road to Churchill in Division 5.
