TAUNTON Town boss Leigh Robinson has said the club are "apoplectic with rage" over the suspension that will keep Shane White out of tomorrow's match with Yate Town.

The midfielder was shown a second yellow card for taking a free-kick too quickly in last weekend’s 7-0 win at Wimborne, a decision that the club were led to believe was to be overturned this week but remains in place.

“The referee admitted to my face after the game that he’d made a mistake, which was good of him, and said he would include his error in his report," Robinson said.

“That obviously hasn’t happened, however, as Shane is banned for this weekend, so we’re pretty disappointed with that to say the least.

"The chairman and a few others have been apoplectic with rage."

Defender Ed Palmer is also banned this weekend, with Matt Villis and Brett Trowbridge set to come into the side in place of the suspended duo.

“That just shows the strength in depth we’ve got,” Robinson said.

“We’ve got two very good players out but there are two very good players to come in for them.”

The Peacocks have had a successful week, following up last weekend’s thumping league win with progress in the Somerset Premier Cup after a rotated side saw off Clevedon 3-1 on Tuesday.

“It’s not a competition that is top of our priorities, but we know the supporters like it so it was nice to get through and give an opportunity to some of the youngsters,” the manager said.

“The young lads we brought in from the under-18s were excellent – Tom Stone was man-of-the-match at centre half and those we brought off the bench also impressed.”

Saturday’s opponents Yate are in poor form, having not won in 14 matches, while Taunton beat them 5-1 in October’s reverse fixture.

There is no place for complacency, however, something that Robinson feels his squad have been good at overcoming so far this season.

“In previous years we have dropped silly points in games we should have won, perhaps due to being complacent, but I don’t think this year’s group have that about them,” he said.

“You can see that from the goals they are scoring and how ruthless they’ve been, which we will aim to carry on this weekend.

“We know we are going to get chances on Saturday, so it is just a matter of taking them.”

To see if the Peacocks can continue their good run, head down to the Viridor Stadium for tomorrow’s 3pm kick-off.
