A NUMBER of pupils from King’s College are enjoying considerable success playing representative and county age group rugby.

Two Under-18s players, Tom Pittman, a fly-half, and hooker Charlie Agbo, have been selected for the England Independent Schools Lambs XV, the highest schools honours they can achieve.

Pittman plays for Dorset and Wiltshire, and is already involved with the Bristol Rugby Academy.

King’s has a close working relationship with the Bristol RFC Developing Player programme and hosts the 14 to 16-year-old group which regularly attracts 70 youngsters.

There are a number of other highly talented young players at King’s who are also making a name for themselves in representative rugby and playing in performance squads and county age group teams.

Ben Tingey, Archie Frith-Fletcher, Gabriel Mead and Ollie Walrond are involved with the Bristol Rugby Academy’s Bridgwater-based Player Development Group, while Charlie Thomas is part of the Bath Development Programme - all have recently played for Somerset at Under-16s level.

In addition to the boys’ rugby at King’s, there is also considerable interest in girls’ rugby and the school recently hosted a game between two girls’ teams that proved to be very popular.

Nick Gresswell, King’s director of sport, said: “There is a huge interest in rugby at King’s.”
