Somerset 2 South
Minehead Barbarians 2nd XV 0, Morganians 56

HAT-TRICK hero Jordan Cooper led the way as Morganians travelled to Minehead and recorded a 56-0 victory, writes Phil Curd.

Morgs didn’t have it all their own way, though, as Minehead dominated the scrum and Morgs’ no8 Cooper was regularly having to pick up the ball as he was shoved backwards.

When the ball did come out, Minehead couldn’t match Morgs’ pace and movement.

Tries from Cooper (2), Sam Bullion (2) and Ryan Rossiter put Morgs 29-0 up at the break; Will Hopkins converted two.

Within 30 seconds of the second half, Morgs had scored again as from the kick-off the ball was caught, and spread wide to Rossiter, who used the support of Martyn Keep to dummy his way in to score.

Although Minehead had a couple of 5m lineouts, they never threatened the Morganians line and were soon on the back foot again.

Further tries from Keep, Cooper, Hopkins and Tim Stafford put the icing on the cake for Morgs’ sizeable travelling support.

Their 14th straight win keeps them 19 points clear at the top of the league with a home game on Saturday against Wiveliscombe.
