ALL eyes will be on the Viridor Stadium on Saturday as Taunton Town look to go one step nearer the dream of being in the draw for the first round of the FA Cup.

They will have to do it the hard way as their opponents in the third qualifying round are Hampton and Richmond Borough, who are currently second in the National League South, three points behind leaders Maidenhead United, having won eight and drawn two of their first 12 league games.

Formerly known simply as Hampton FC, the side is managed by Alan Dowson, who played League football for Millwall, Bradford City and Darlington before launching his managerial career and he is joined on the bench by coach Martin Tyler, the veteran television and radio football commentator.

Town will be hoping to put Saturday’s defeat at Swindon Supermarine behind them as they have another match in the week regardless of Saturday’s result.

A draw on Saturday will mean a trip to Hampton on Tuesday for a replay but in the event of a positive result either way, Taunton go to Bideford on Monday in the Southern League Cup.

Last Tuesday’s league game with Paulton Rovers, which was postponed as they were in Premier Cup action at Bishops Lydeard is now on Tuesday, October 18 while the home game with Slimbridge is on November 1.
