TRULL recorded a huge victory against Wincanton in Division 5 of the Somerset League on Saturday led by a spectacular unbeaten innings of 205 by Andy Clark.

Opener M. Seward set the scene for Trull with a half-century, then Clark took control and, with A. Sapey hitting 62, he put the game out of Wincanton's control as his side declared on 419-3.

Shell-shocked Wincanton collapsed to 60 all out with only S. Wadman (20) hitting double figures, as C. Lawton took 4-14.

Minehead's debut in the newly-structured Premier Division brought them a three-wicket win against Temple Cloud.

Batting first, Temple's innings hinged on a fine 64 from S. McHale.

E. Taylor was the pick of the Minehead attack, taking 3-45 off nine overs as the innings closed on 243.

Chasing a challenging total, openers I. Buchanan (22) and E. Rice (54) laid the foundation for victory.

B. Taylor joined Rice to hit 46, D. Bowditch kept the innings going with 25 and E. Taylor's unbeaten 34 came just in time as the innings wobbled.

Taunton Deane 2nds suffered a five-wicket defeat at the hands of Middlezoy.

They reached 177 with S. Burgess hitting 45 and T. Burgess an unbeaten 32.

But it was not enough as J. Lacey hit a match-winning 94 for Middlezoy.

Bagborough slumped to a 157-run defeat against Cheddar.

Opener S. Harris set the pace for Cheddar with 79 and A. Wills hit 44 as his side reached 252-6.

Bagborough's reply faltered from the off with only R. Chickland's fine 41 taking them to 95 before the last wicket fell.

In Division 2, Watchet had no answer to Weston-super-Mare 2nds' potent bowling attack.

As a result, Watchet could only muster 89, with only P. Manley offering resistance early on with 30.

D. Bowden (18) and N. Merrick (12) wagged the tail late on but it was all in vain as Weston opener J. Lawrence hit an unbeaten 51 and partner J. Press 19 to see their side home.

Taunton St Andrew's 2nds coasted home with five wickets to spare against Barrington.

S. Redwood hit a fine 72 as Barrington reached 202-6, but S. Jenkins (41) and M. White, unbeaten on 56, saw the Saints home with wickets and overs to spare.

Minehead 2nds made light of a target of 206 set for them by North Newton in Division 3.

Newton's J. Stone hit 74 as his side reached 205-9 but Minehead's assured batting performance was led by M. Sully's match-winning 90 as they came home with five wickets to spare.

Taunton 2nds squeezed home with one wicket in hand against Long Sutton.

P. Andrews' 67 and J. Cook's 55 saw Long Sutton to 202-8.

Taunton's batsmen got in then out too soon and all was left to R. Devassy's stubborn unbeaten 29 to guide them to victory with last man D. Joseph at the wicket.

In Division 4, Fitzhead fell 73 runs short against Wembdon 2nds.

B. Vickery top-scored with 68 as Wembdon reached 224-9.

Fitzhead's hopes rested on the bat of C. Shapland but when he fell for 75 there was little resistance and they were all out for 151.

Curry Rivel won by 100 runs as they faced Frome 2nds.

Rivel reached 187-7 thanks to 67 from D. Higginson, then fine bowling from H. Wilkes (2-12 off 9) and C. Hamlett (3-12) reduced Frome to 87 all out.

Taunton St Andrew's A team lost by four wickets in their Division 6 match against Leigh-on-Mendip.

The Saints set Leigh a target of 179 for victory as B. Walford (36no) and D. Cowling (27no) produced a late order wag to see their side to 178-7.

Two half-centuries - B. Gould 58 and J. Harvey 56no - were enough to see Lee home despite M. Pringle taking 3-23 and Martin Baldock 2-22.

Staplegrove 2nds were undone by a sparkling, unbeaten 153 by M. Dicker as North Perrott hit a challenging 284-5 in their allotted overs, despite P. Horton taking 3-44 off nine.

The Grove's G. Bishop hit a fine 51 but it was never near enough to challenge the target.

In Division 7S, Taunton A coasted to a 51-run win against Westlands 2nds.

Batting first, Taunton's innings of 213-5 was led by an unbeaten 82 from J. Newman, who received support from M. Muraleedharan (34).

Westlands' reply was never up to the challenge as A. Derry, K. Anand, M. Gale and M. Wilson took two wickets apiece.

Taunton Deane Cavaliers were 18 runs too good for North Petherton 2nds.

An unbeaten century from V. Similien and 76 from Dave Stephenson saw the Deane to 231-2.

Pethy made a valiant attempt to reach their target with T. Lambert hitting a classy 71 and L. Winter 41.

But they fell short in the face of a fine spell of 3-44 from R. Marsh.

Watchet 2nds' innings of 123 was never going to be enough, despite N. Richards' 37 and R. Jones' 30 as S. Dennett did the damage with 5-15 from eight.

In reply, despite S. Broadey getting an early wicket, F. Day (46no) and E. Buxton (57no) saw Sparkford cruise home.

Trull 2nds followed their first team in hitting a big total of 275-3 in their Division 8S match against Wembdon Academy.

T. Crowe was unbeaten on 102 and M. Kearley was out for 98 as Trull closed on 275-3.

In reply, only C. Savage (25) hit double figures for Wembdon, who were bowled out for 59.

Wellington 3rds' innings of 211-4 featured a fine 103 from D. Luxton as they won by 40 runs.

Ilminster A failed to keep up with the scoring rate as R. Henwood Jnr ended a fine eight-over spell with 5-49, backed up by R. Henwood Snr's 3-27.

Taunton Deane Crusaders were always short of runs against South Petherton who coasted home to a seven-wicket win.

Crusaders' top scorer was J. Arscott (46) but, despite six other batsmen reaching double figures, none could make a telling contribution.

As a result, Petherton came home with plenty to spare as P. Willingale (42) top scored.
