OVER the winter months, the Edward Cup at Enmore Park is a mixed foursomes knock-out with players taking alternate shots to the hole.

After taking an early lead, Chris and Kevin Lewis were four up after five holes, but a great fight back commenced with the match back level after 13 holes.

The Lewis’s found bunker trouble on 14 allowing, Orris and Thorogood to take the lead for the first time of the match, going on to win on 17.

Sarah Rendell and Lee Lewis won a closely fought match, winning the foursomes match on the day with 35 points.

Enmore got off to a good start in the new Avalon Senior's league, beating Tall Pines with wins from the Phils (Hodge and Taylor), Wayne Hawley and Steve James, Rob Fear and Paul Martin, together with a halved match by Mike Rossiter & Bob Kippen, resulting in a 3.5-1.5 result for the home side.

On Saturday, a birdie on the last by captain, Rob Fear, sealed a great fight back with partner, Ray Lukeski and a 4-2 win in lovely conditions against Honiton. There were also wins for Paul Martin & Gary Walker, Tim Woodley & Mark Hoar and Chris Marsh & Dan Andison.

In the Mercedes Medal, Steve Rolph had the best of the day with a nett 67 on a day of tough scoring and a CSS of +2 (73).

Steve, Ian Huxtable and Andrew Burns will all progress to the next stage of the competition at Oake Manor after winning their handicap divisions.

Club Night at Enmore saw the winners of this event certainly having the best conditions, going out late and avoiding the hail storms.

First place went to the team of A Wright, C Lazenby and L Neal with 76pts. Second was W Davey, A Foster and A Bennett on 70pts beating third place P Manley, G Alexiou and P Thorogood who also had 70pts. In fourth and two points behind was the team of B Riddle, R Barber and D Peaster.

In the Ladies Section, with improving weather Enmore Park Ladies had a better week with some great results.

On Monday, the first Interleague match was played against Wells. Enmore won the match 4.5-1.5.

On April 27, the Ladies competed in the Lambert Cup.

The overall event was won by Jenny Butcher with 34 points, in the Silver Division Julie Blumgart won with 33 points, Sue Hales 31 points and Sarah Blake 3rd with 29 points on count back.

In the Bronze Division, Mo Veale won with 34 points Jane Collins was 2nd with 33 points and Pat Snelling was 3rd with 33 points on count back, Lorraine Taylor was 4th with 33 points on count back and 5th was Sue Merrick with 32 points on count back.
