QUEEN’S College, Taunton, has no fewer than three players on international duty this weekend.

Olivia Hoskins and Tim Nurse have been selected for England Under-18s girls and boys respectively to face Scotland in a Test series, which starts on Sunday.

And Tom Stevenson will be in the England Under-16s boys’ team taking on Scotland and Ulster in a series, which also starts on Sunday.

The matches will mark international debuts for Olivia and Tom, while Tim went to Rotterdam with the boys’ team over the Easter holidays and played in a Test series v Holland.

Completing the Queen’s hockey success story are Rory Nicholson, who has been selected for the UK Under-14 Lions hockey team and Ben Stevenson, who also played for England in the Holland series but is currently injured.

The selections cap a season of outstanding hockey at Queen’s College.

The girls’ under-18 team were Somerset champions, West region runners-up and finished in the top six in the country at the national finals held at the Olympic Park in March.

The under-18s boys were ranked in the top 8 in England and reached the quarter-finals of the National Boys’ Cup, losing narrowly to the eventual winners.

Director of Hockey, Ian Haley, said: “The scope of these achievements is at the highest level in the West region and also matched by only a few other schools nationally.”

Hockey scholarships are available at Queen’s and anyone interested should contact the Admissions Office to arrange for a taster day and assessment with Mr Haley, who played at the London 2012 Olympics.
