TAUNTON Town will be looking to strengthen their grip on second place in Southern League Division One S&W when basement side Bashley visit the Viridor Stadium on Saturday.

The Peacocks are four points behind leaders Cinderford Town – who travel to AFC Totton this weekend – and two points clear of third-place Swindon Supermarine.

In contrast, Saturday’s opponents sit rock bottom of the division, having lost all 25 games and conceded 120 goals already this season – scoring just nine.

The following weekend (February 20) sees Leigh Robinson’s side head to the Forest of Dean for a crucial top of the table clash against Cinderford, before another huge game against Swindon Supermarine on February 23.

Meanwhile, Town have reinforced their squad with the re-signing of Brett Trowbridge from Yate Town.

The 29-year-old midfielder joined the Peacocks from Weston-super-Mare in May 2014 and played a significant role in the successes of last season but left to join the Bluebells last summer.

Manager Leigh Robinson said: "We’re very pleased to have Brett back on board.

"He was a key player for us last season and hopefully he can hit the same levels in the final third of this season.

"We felt it was important to bolster the squad as we have picked up a few injuries lately and have been a bit short of options in midfield so Brett will give us added quality as well as competition for places.”
