TAUNTON punters have enjoyed some great racing action so far this season - and it looks like being more of the same when the Orchard Portman course hosts the only national hunt meeting in the United Kingdom on Tuesday, after being given the green light following an early morning inspection on Monday.

The card that gets underway at 2.15pm will see 52 horses running in the six races that offer a more than generous prize fund of £48k.

All of the leading trainers have entries including Nicky Henderson, Paul Nicholls, Venetia Williams, Nigel Twiston-Davies, Philip Hobbs, David Pipe and Colin Tizzard, while top jockeys Richard Johnson, Barry Geraghty, Aidan Coleman, Sam Twiston-Davies and Tom Scudamore are all booked for rides.

There are two Class 3 events on the card, the first of which is the Bathwick Tyres Handicap Hurdle, over two miles and half a furlong which offers a generous £10k in prizes is due off at 3.45pm.

The big race of the day the Bathwick Tyres Handicap Steeple Chase 30 minutes later,over two miles and seven furlongs has a whopping £13,000 in prizes to be won.

Racegoers are reminded that a courtesy coach departs from Taunton Railway Station two hours before racing begins and returns from the course 30 minutes after the start of the last.
