BRIDGWATER under-14s recorded three wins out of three at the County Tournament held at King's Bruton School on Sunday.

The girls were only a team of seven due to other commitments, so they knew that they had their work cut out.

The wind swirled and whipped and the rain made the conditions slipper,y but nothing could dampen the mood of the team.

Facing Purnell in their first game they comfortably won 7-1 and then went on to beat Paulton 3-0.

With a quick team talk from coach Cath Clark, the team, led by captain Hannah Madge took the court for their final game against Yeovil.

The shooting duo of Izzy Innals and Abbie Newton battled with their defence, as well as the elements to nudge the Bridgwater side ahead.

The attacking play from Jess Cheese and Olivia Kamin worked tirelessly to bring the ball down the court.

The Bridgwater defence backline of Beth Hayes, Hannah Madge and Katie Anthony held strong and did not buckle under the pressure of the tall Yeovil attack.

The final score of five goals to three in Bridgwater's favour certainly made the girls - and the parents - jump for joy.
