JAKE Randall was the star of the show for Huntspill and District as they thrashed Wellington 2nd XI by 72 runs in Division Three on Saturday.

Randall returned figure of 6-22 from 12 overs as Wellington were dismissed for just 89, in reply to Huntspill’s 161-7.

Sam Lillycrop (4-22) took the other four wickets in a commanding win for Huntspill.

Earlier, Randall also top scored with 31 in a mediocre Huntspill batting display.

In Division Four, bottom side Wedmore crashed to yet another defeat, this time at the hands of Cranmore and despite the best efforts of Phil Patch.

Patch scored 94 not out in Wedmore’s total of 183-9, with R Macarthur also adding 35.

J Burgess (3-48) and I Harris (3-52) took three wickets apiece for Wedmore, but 62 from M Pang and 30 from J Keene guided Cranmore home.

Lympsham 2nd XI eased to a ten-wicket demolition of Belvedere 2nd XI in Division 8N.

D Berry (3-9), L Morris (2-8), M Russ (1-7) and F Grandfield (1-26) were all in the wickets for Lympsham to help bowl Belvedere out for just 55 inside 30 overs – and the home side needed less than ten overs to seal victory, thanks to A Hall (22no) and S Bruce (31no).

Elsewhere in the division, Wedmore 2nd XI fell 24 runs short at home to Bridgwater Sports.

Batting first, Sports posted 168-2 from their 45 overs thanks to 56 from B Winter, 41 from M Winter and 34no from J Winter.

R Hale (1-19) was the only Wedmore wicket taker, with a run out accounting for the other.

In reply, Wedmore slumped to 144 all out as J Winter, P Winter and R Gillard took two wickets apiece.

T Ingle (43) and J Gamlin (39) top scored for Wedmore and were the only two home batsmen to make it into double figures.

In Division 9NW, East Huntspill secured a comfortable seven-wicket victory over Leigh-on-Mendip.

K Crennol (1-9), L Waldock (1-13), H Dare (1-20) and B Gowan (1-20) took a wicket apiece for Easts to restrict Leigh to 109-4 from 45 overs, before Waldock (33no) and D West (25no) knocked off the runs inside 31 overs.
