ALAN Vickery and Steph Bristow won the inaugural Rigler Salver in the Mixed Summer League at Enmore Park with a narrow victory ahead of Sarah Blake on countback.

Enmore Seniors returned to home soil with a very welcome victory against long standing opponents from the Honiton club.

Played in lovely summer weather the home side recorded a victory by five matches to three.

Enmore pairings bringing home the points were Jim Smith with John Rigler (6&5), Paul Waplington with Steve James (4&3), Phil Wood with Dave Pascoe (4&3), Iain Stewart with Jim Symcox (4&2), and Chris Topps with Graham Pain (2&1).

Honiton player Tony Williams scored a hole in one on the 202 yards par three 12th hole and returned to Honiton with rather a large bar bill.

In the David Monks Memorial Cup, taking first place on the day was D Pascoe ahead of M Honeywell and N Dickie in second and third places, respectively.

S. Woodbury finished in fourth with G. Ferguson in fifth. There were seven twos on the day.

Last weekend, Saturday's August medal was combined with the King and Waddon Cup after the King Cup was recently abandoned due to rain. This time around the weather was perfect for good golf.

Chris Johnson excelled in the sunshine with a nett 67 to win Division Two and the King Cup after finishing next to the hole with his four spare shots.

Winner of Division One was Paul Manley on nett 68 - Paul had the King Cup in his sights with three shots spare but left his putt frustratingly short from close range.

Viv Dennis won Division Three with a nett 68 and also claimed the Waddon Cup which is awarded to the best score from a non-cup winner.

Best gross of the day was Matt Kippen with 68 which brings his handicap back down to +2.

Tuesday’s Club Day, the format this week was one score to count on par threes, two scores to count on par fours and three scores to count on the par fives.

The winning score was a 12-under-par total of 82 points by A Downes, J Kane and D Short. The victorious trio were just one point ahead of runners-up D Read, H Neal and S Rolph.

The Tuesday Bowmaker was won by Mike Cavill, Sue Hockley and John Parker.

Wednesday's Bowmaker was won by Anne Perry, John Newell and Penny Parker.

Thursday's 4BBB saw the Captain and his wife triumph with Roger and Linda Anniss.

Sue Hockley must have benefitted from three days golf in Cornwall as she aced the second hole yesterday whilst playing in Lady Captain's Day.

In the junior section, Thomas Barker from Burnham and Berrow produced an excellent round of gross 69 to win the HSBC Junior Classic and Daily Telegraph qualifier.

Playing off a three handicap, he had the best nett too with next best Lewis Coward from Long Sutton scoring a nett 68.
