IT is a case of ‘lights, camera, action!’ at the Oaktree Arena tonight (Tuesday) as the ‘Cases’ Somerset Rebels play host to top-of-the-table Edinburgh Monarchs.

The match is being played out live in front of the Sky TV cameras and with reduced admission prices for a meeting which has all the makings of being another classic Oaktree Arena meeting.

The past two seasons have seen Somerset and Edinburgh go head-to-head in the Premier League Championship Grand Final with Somerset winning out to claim their maiden League Championship title in 2013, with Edinburgh turning the tables to win last season’s Grand Final by just a single race point over the Rebels.

While Edinburgh may have had their colours lowered on home shale on two occasions this year, the most recent being a one-point home defeat to Peterborough, the Monarchs have more than made up for that on their travels.

They have picked up at least a point from each of their nine away league matches ridden so far this year, and will come to the Oaktree Arena on the back of successive away wins at Rye House on Saturday and then at Peterborough on Sunday afternoon.

Edinburgh are led by Craig Cook, who finished in 2nd place in this year’s British Championship Final to earn himself a wildcard entry into the British Speedway GP held at Cardiff ’s Millennium Stadium, Cook having recently regained the number one race-jacket from ex-Rebel Sam Masters, who has enjoyed a tremendous start to the season.

Somerset have no injury concerns ahead of Tuesday night’s match and so will track their full 1-7, with team manager Garry May looking forward to ’locking horns’ with the Monarchs once again.

Admission prices have been slashed for this match with both adults and concession categories being admitted for just £10, while all fans aged 18 and under will be admitted free of charge, though proof of age will need to be provided if requested at the turnstiles.

SOMERSET Rebels got back to winning ways in the league at the Oaktree Arena last Friday when they beat Redcar Bears 55-38 in front of a big holiday crowd.
