KEVIN Crennol returned figures of 4-12 from eight overs to inspire East Huntspill to a thumping eight-wicket win over Lydford in Division Five on Saturday.

Crennol, Ian Cooke (3-14), Ian Phillips (2-21) and Kevin Stamp (1-6) combined to help dismiss the visitors for 56, before N Hodge (28) scored the bulk of the runs to secure an easy win for Easts.

Only two Lydford players made double figures – H Barnes (14) and T Fowler (10) – while there were four ducks in the innings.

K Butt (9) and Hodge were the two Easts batsmen dismissed, both by L Mckenzie (2-11) – D West (5no) and Andy Chedzey (4no) saw the hosts over the finish line.

In Division Three, half-centuries from D Luff (66) and J Luff (57) weren’t enough for Lympsham who fell 13 runs short of victory at home to Wincanton.

Chasing 245 to win, the Luffs were given support by Hayden Tuttiett (32), S Poole (29) and C Scriven (21no) – but the home side ran out of overs.

Earlier, D Biddiscombe (110) led the Wincanton charge with a brilliant century – and L Morris (3-35) was the pick of the Lympsham bowlers.

J Luff (2-54), M Mitchell (2-54) and S Poole (2-52) also shared six wickets.

Elsewhere in the division, Huntspill and District suffered a five-wicket defeat to Curry Rivel after being bowled out for 151.

Sam Lillycrop (30) and Matt Counsell (26) top scored for Huntspill, but it was a total they were unable to defend as Curry Rivel eased home in 35.2 overs.

A poor batting display saw Wedmore slump to a ten-wicket defeat at South Petherton in Division Four.

The visitors struggled to handle the bowling of J Edmunds (6-18) and K Harris (4-36) and were bowled out for just 94.

O Halmkin (17), N Emery (14) and I Harris (12no) top scored for Wedmore in a dismal display.

In Division 8N, Lympsham 2nd XI were beaten by four wickets at Wells 2nd XI, despite 74 from R Drew.

Batting first, Lympsham posted 221-6, thanks mainly to Drew and S Bruce (45).

But A Henderson (80) and A Hodgkinson (49no) saw Wells to relatively comfortable win with more than nine overs to spare.

Mark suffered a heavy 118-run defeat at Taunton St Andrews A in Division Six, as they fell well short of Saints’ 266 all out.

L Tinklin (3-62) and T Moxey (3-28) starred with the ball for Mark, but the batsmen couldn’t back up their efforts and finished up 148 all out.
