WEPL Premier One Second XI

Bridgwater 2nd XI 101-3 beat Taunton Deane 2nd XI 97 by seven wickets

ED Habberfield was the star of the show for Bridgwater as they thrashed Taunton Deane by seven wickets at The Parks on Saturday.

Habberfield took 5-30 from nine overs to help bowl Deane out for just 97 batting first.

Ian Higgins (1-22) and Tim Hill (3-27) also chipped in with wickets, as did Matt Habberfield (1-12), to wrap the innings up inside 30 overs.

In reply, Jonathan Vickery smashed 51 from just 32 balls including 12 fours, to fire Bridgwater to their target in just 17.3 overs.

Ben Coombes (34no) provided ample support at the top of the order - hitting six fours and one six – after three early wickets had reduced Bridgwater to 13-3.

Liam Kitch (4), George Bartlett (1) and Todd Barrett (0) all fell cheaply, to leave the hosts in a bit of trouble in pursuit of a small target.

But Vickery’s blistering knock removed any hopes Deane may have had of pulling off a shock win, to give Bridgwater their fifth win of the season.

# Tonight, Bridgwater start their Baker Cup campaign against Staplegrove, 6.15pm.
