SWIMMING sensation Charlie Attwood has been selected by Team GB to compete in the European Games held in Baku, Azerbaijan in June - and selected by British Swimming to represent Great Britain in the World Junior Championships in Singapore, in August.

A commanding performance by the 17-year-old at the recent British Swimming Championships held at the London Aquatic Centre, ensured that he was inside the qualifying times for the European Games and the Junior World Championships.

He won Gold in the 17/18 years 100m event, with a season’s best time of 1.02.39.

Gold in the 200m Breaststroke also resulted in a new British junior record with a time of 2.14.55.

Charlie said: “I am delighted to have been selected to represent my country in both events and am now focusing on working hard in my training to ensure I’m ready and at my best.

“As always I’m really grateful to TS5C for their continued support.

“It’s a huge help towards my training and competing costs.”

Somerset charity, TS5C, sponsors Charlie – and chairman Alan Gloak said: “I could really see determination and the potential in Charlie,” Alan explains.

“It was obvious that he was going to go far, but it’s an expensive sport and a huge financial undertaking for any family.

"I am delighted that the charity has been able to support him for the last few years, and look forward to the next exciting stage in his swimming career.”
