Shapwick & Polden 219-9 lost to Weston-super-Mare 222-7 by three wickets
SHAPWICK and Polden suffered a final over defeat to Weston-super-Mare in WEPL Premier One on Saturday.
Steve Tinnion scored 56 at the top of the Shapwick order as they mustered 219-9 from their 50 overs.
James Haggett (33no) and Sam Spencer (27) offered support lower down the order, with Haggett smashing two fours and two sixes in his 25-ball knock.
For Weston, Shabil Ahmed claimed 3-47.
Dean Roodt (1-31) made an early breakthrough for Shapwick, as he removed Davidson for 16 – but Andy Fear (92no) and Shabil Ahmed (42) put on 75 for the second wicket.
Michael Higgs (2-41) dismissed Ahmed, before Ben Ackland struck to remove James King (13) – and when Ben Rudge (2-26) struck twice in quick succession, Shapwick were back in the game.
James Haggett’s (1-32) first wicket of the afternoon reduced Weston to 175-6 and Higgs took his second wicket with the visitors still seven runs short.
But Fear (92no) saw his side home with three balls to spare to send Shapwick to a second successive defeat.
