THE Somerset Rebels will be looking to keep their hopes of qualification for the semi-finals of the League Cup on-track when they face group leaders, the Rye House Rockets at the Oaktree Arena on Friday (April 10) night.

Somerset expect to be at full strength for Friday’s match, with team manager, Garry May, seeing it as pivotal to the club’s hopes of possible progression to the semi-final stages.

“At the time of speaking, both Rye and ourselves have picked up four match points from away fixtures,” he said.

“But even though Rye House have since dropped points at home to Peterborough, it is still vital that we do not allow them to take any points away from Friday night’s match at the Oaktree Arena as our qualification group is still wide open and any of the five teams - including ourselves - still has a chance of making it through to the semi-finals, and any slip-up could prove costly.”

“Rye House are a much different proposition to the one we saw here last year, and it will be a tough encounter - and although I believe we have enough fire-power to see them off, it has all the makings of being a cracking match and hopefully there’ll be a good crowd there on Friday night to get behind the boys.”

Friday night will also see the Exeter Falcons make their first appearance of the season at the Oaktree Arena in the series of second half matches they are staging throughout 2015, with the Falcons taking on a side representing the Rebels.

The match will comprise four riders per side, contested over six heats and take place after the main Somerset versus Rye House League Cup match.
