Bridgwater Ladies II 0, White Eagles 2

IN their last league game of the season, Bridgwater who have already found themselves relegated, had even more bad news to contend with.

On the morning of the game, they lost their ‘keeper Sue Durkin who was called up to the firsts to replace the first team ‘keeper – and with no other ‘keeper available, Shannon Coate stepped up to put on the gear.

She did a splendid job making some fine saves in the first-half.

One in particular from a cracking shot from a penalty corner.

After 25 minutes, Eagles managed to break the deadlock with a goal that Shannon almost managed to push past the post.

Bridgwater had many chances to reply with Karen Chilcott coming very close from a first time hit at a penalty corner.

Unfortunately, the Eagles ‘keeper was in fine form and managed to smother every shot.

Eagles scored a second part way through the second half and Bridgwater piled on the pressure to get back into the game.

Becky Oram and Kate England worked wonders getting the ball into the D but the finishing touch eluded the team once more.

Despite going down, Bridgwater will see this as an opportunity to give more playing time to the youngsters who have stepped up to play the senior game this season.

Player of the match was Shannon Coate.
