ENMORE Park’s Matt Kippen was victorious in a Somerset and Gloucester PGA Medal at Saltford recently.

His -1 was good enough to beat the professionals over an 8 hole tournament due to poor weather.

Dave Dixon was tied for second on level par.

In the ladies section, February 18 saw a nine-hole Fun competition take place.

It was very close at the top of the leaderboard, but taking top spot with a score of 53 points were P Parker, J Woodman and J Bull.

The trio led the way by a single point from runners-up J Simpson, B Edney and R Mclennon who were one point ahead of third placed C Warren, A Marchant and J Hawkins.

February 25 saw a nine-hole betterball event take place with Penny Parker and Fiona Ryan leading the way with 24 points.

They managed to edge out two other pairings on countback after all three finished on the same score. Eve Bolton and Shanni Whisler finished second with Anne Elliott-Rose and Kay Taylor in third.

The Seniors of Enmore Park Golf Club continued their ‘Winter Warmers’ matches away on the links of Weston-Super-Mare.

Sadly even that short journey did not suit the Enmore team, going down by 5&half to 2&half.

The two pairings to register points were Graham Pain with Tim Smith (3up), whilst Ray Hancock with Peter Sherry won 1 up. The halved match was with Chris Sammons and Tony Pomeroy.

New seniors skipper, Mike Perry, was partenered by the Enmore "pro", veteran Nigel Wixon, but even they couldn't bring home a positive score.

The match away to Exeter had to be called off at the last minute due to a waterlogged course, but, hopefully, can soon be re-scheduled.

The ‘Warmers’ continued with an early dash to the Churston club, near Brixham, on the South Devon coast.

Much the same outcome as Weston, with only three pairs out of the eight recording halved matches, namely, Paul Waplington with Tony Pomeroy, Chris Topps with Peter Hamshere and Jeff Saunders with Jim Potticary.

With the last of the scheduled winter matches completed, the season proper starts later this month.
