THE sun shone and the going was good for the Tiverton Foxhounds annual Point-to-Point at Chipley Park, near Wellington on Sunday.

Dodson & Horrell sponsored the 13 strong field of the Point-to-Point Owners’ and Riders’ Associations (PPORA) – Novice Riders Series one of twelve sponsored races by Dodson & Horrell in the Series. The winner of this very competitive race was 16-year-old Harry Cobden on his third ride of the day, Silver Token.

The grey gelding was bred by David Brace, for whom Harry rides out one day a week, but he is now owned and trained by professional jockey Rachael Green, the 2006 Ladies' National Point-to-Point champion.

As well as plenty of hunting, Harry also has Team Chasing on his CV, while he excelled in Pony Racing, racking up over 30 victories.

He is now home tutored, and works for Rachael's partner, trainer Anthony Honeyball.

With some excellent entries and 13 runners in the race, Harry commented "Silver Token is a really good horse and he battled on to win - I am thrilled".

Anthony Honeyball speaking on behalf of Rachael Green who trained Silver Token commented "Silver Token is a really useful horse for Novice Riders and we are delighted for Harry who deserves the win"

In second place, by just a neck, was Miss Hannah Welch riding Ladyvie (FR), an 8-year-old bay mare owned by The Maharaja Racing Club and trained by Sam Holdsworth.

Third, by six lengths, was Nick Lawton riding Talab, a 10 year old bay gelding owned and trained locally by Mr and Mrs Gerald Greenway.

Dodson & Horrell has been sponsoring Point-to-Pointing for twenty seven years and this Novice Riders Series goes from strength to strength.

The much anticipated final will be held at Tabley, Cheshire on Sunday, May 17.

Last year the title was won by Megan Nicholls, daughter of Somerset National Hunt Trainer Paul Nicholls.
