A NEW district schools has been set up, led by Taunton Town assistant manager Mo Hopkins.

Hopkins said: “With the Taunton & District schools representative sides not operating for a number of years I felt it time we reintroduced this pathway for our young and gifted football players to represent the whole area in regional and national competitions.

“Taunton, Wellington & West Somerset are as rich as any other region in talented sport students; we just need to provide the opportunity for them to flourish.

“My other role with Taunton Town FC will help provide a pathway for the students when they leave secondary school, which in time will provide more local talent representing the first team.

He added: “We’ll look to emphasise the importance of development, differing to the ‘win at all costs’ attitude.

“Our coaching philosophy will provide the players with the opportunity to express and enjoy.

“Our aim is to create technically gifted players and special young people by creating a productive environment. We place great significance on good attitude and behaviour.”
