BATHPOOL and AFC Grove came through tough games to reach the semi-finals of the Somerset County Cup.

James Weaver was the star for Bathpool as they beat Larkhall Athletic 4-2.

The dangerous front man fired Bathpool into a half-time lead and scored again in the second half before Larkhall hit back.

Dan Scaddon put the home team 3-1 up and it was Weaver who scored the fourth to complete a fine hat-trick.

Larkhall did score a late consolation, but it was Bathpool who booked a semi-final tie at cup favourites Kingsmead.

AFC Grove knocked out fellow Taunton side Ash Rangers, also by a 4-2 score line.

Ash started the better and took a deserved 1-0 lead, Gary Mckiernan scoring from close range. Grove got into their stride levelled from a super Nick Woon strike.

Darren Rice scored a stunning free kick to put the visitors 2-1 up before a well crafted move from Ash resulted in Callum Hardy squaring the match again.

Ash started the second half well again but it was Grove who dealt the fatal blow with quickfire goals from Matt and Ali Pounde.

Grove sat on what they had and as hard as Ash tried they couldn’t get back into the game.

Grove also have an away tie in the last four to look forward to as they play the winners of the GT Sports against KCCC FC.
