A HOME alley record of 431 was posted by Tiverton RBL this week, with an individual record thrown by Alec Deary of 86 with four spares – including one of 24.

Elmore Club’s win over Globe Appley B means that they have clear second place in the league and GAB hold third place.

Reports: Though Elmore Club were behind by eight pins after two legs against Globe Appley B, they overtook them by two in the third leg, and added another 19 in the fourth. Though GAB made a push in the fifth the game was over.

Castaways made a good start in their game with Bradninch C Club going 22 ahead after two, and managed to keep their noses ahead all the way to the line.

Though after three legs Barmy Army and Settler Boys were level, the Boys overtook the Army on the third and then took the last two legs as well to stay top of the league.

After three legs Globetrotters and Redwoods were equal, but then the home team posted the leg that won the game for them as their visitors fell behind, and though they won the last two legs just failed by three.

Globe Appley trailed behind Lumberjacks after two legs, and though they won the third and the last two, their visitors had done enough to take a very tight win.

It couldn’t have been a closer game between Calverleigh and Bellies as it ended in a draw. The home team set the pace and after five legs were 13 pins ahead, but a poor last leg gave the away team the chance and they took it.

DIVISION B: results – Barley Mow 373, Crossways 361; Bullocks 386, HCC1 364; Ayshford Arms 405, The Merriemeade 435; Uplowman 368, The Beare 383; The Ponies 405, The Agri-Nuts 389; Roy’s Rebels 389, All Blacks 410; Bradninch RBL 387, Bickleigh 418; Oggies had a bye; High Scores: 65 – T Burns (Bradninch RBL, two spares).

Reports: Barley Mow and Crossways had some close rubs but the home team posted the slightly better ones to win by 12 and keep their third spot.

Bullocks pulled pins on all bar the fourth rub for an easy 22 pin win over HCC1, keeping them in third.

Ayshford Arms went a tasty 24 pins up within two against The Merriemeade but the away side dusted themselves down and won the last four rubs pulling 54 pins to run out 30 pin winners.

Uplowman pulled pins against The Beare on the first but that was the last of it, the away side soon gained control and eased to a 15 pin win.

The Ponies only dropped pins on the first against The Agri-Nuts who kept close on most rubs but fell 16 short.

Roy’s Rebels lost out by 21 pins to table toppers the All Blacks who did the most damage on the first pulling 19 of the 21 pins.

Bradninch RBL dropped pins on only two rubs against Bickleigh but the away side made those two runs count by pulling 41 pins on them giving a 31 pin win.

Reports: Huntsham A are nicely placed just behind the leaders following their 31 pin away win at Tiverton Chiefs. Chiefs took the first leg, then left the visitors to pick up all the rest for a comfortable win.

Rose & Crown lost the first leg of their home game against Ashill Inn by two, but took four of the next five legs for a 34 pin win. Half of the winning margin came in the final leg when the home side took a 17 pin advantage.

Catherine Wheel stay second in the table following their home win against Booze Cruzers. The first leg was drawn, but Catherine Wheel took the second with a 27 pin advantage and added to their lead to take the win by 41.

Tiverton RBL set a new alley record as they demolished Heathcoat Hulas with a 60 pin home win. RBL won all but one leg and Man of the Match Alec Deary scored a massive 86, which included four spares, one of 24. Deary’s score set a new individual record for the alley too.

The Farmers spurned the chance to do the double over their visitors Lion Cubs, instead handing Cubs a 42 pin win. Farmers took the first leg by three, but a 22 pin reverse in the second set the tone for the rest of the game and Cubs scored consistently for a win that keeps them four points clear at the top.

The Travellers took their second away win of the season with victory at HCC2. Travellers were six up after two legs and 16 up after four. HCC2 needed 68 off the last leg for a win, but fell short by six pins to hand Travellers a five-pin win.
