AFTER their fine win at play-off rivals Didcot Town last weekend, Taunton Town will seek to capitalise on two successive home matches in order to maintain their second place in the Evo-Stik League table.

On Saturday the Peacocks entertain Clevedon Town at the Viridor Stadium which is followed by the visit of Shortwood United seven days later. Both games kick off at 3pm.

The clash with Cleve-don represents a tricky test for Town because although the Seasiders lie well down in 18th position, they have won two of their three games to date so far this year and only narrowly lost to leaders Merthyr last Saturday.

Manager Leigh Robin-son will therefore need to ensure his charges show no complacency against a side they have met twice already this season, the teams fighting out a 1-1 league draw at the Hand Stadium in August before Taunton prevailed 4-1 at home in the FA Cup later that month.

The Peacocks still await the return of half a dozen players from injury but their participation this weekend is unlikely.

Ben Kirk, Lamar Powell and Ben Carter will definitely not be fit while there are doubts over Aidan Chainey and Josh Wadham.

Midfielder Rob Norrish meanwhile had his cartilage operation on Tuesday and hopes to be back playing soon.

n Taunton Town Under 18s’ game at home to Clevedon Town in the Somerset Floodlight You-th League last Thursday was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

They are next due to be in action next Thursday when they go to Bridg-water Town in the quarter finals of the Roger Stone Memorial Cup.
