VIVARY senior Dave Beale emphasised that his two victories at the club before Christmas were no mere flashes in the pan by doubling up and taking two more in the New Year.

He won the New Year Stableford with 42 points, just one more than second placed Keith Wood and two more than third placed Pete Jeffery.

In the January Medal he needed only a nett 71 to beat Richard Brown into second with 72 points while Pete Jeffery again came third with a 73.

Jeffery had however already claimed the late December Stableford with a solid 40 points playing off a handicap of nine. Keith Parker trailed in second on 37 and Keith Wood third on 35.

The newly-established Tom Thorne Bloodsome Pairs Competition where your opponents choose the one drive you have to play caused much merriment and many ruthless decisions.

It was won by Gerald Weaver and Derek Moore who compiled a careful score of 31 points.

Dai Lloyd and Pete Jeffery claimed second on count-back from John Blissitt and Denis Galpin as both teams had 30 points.
