TAUNTON Vale B were left to rue a number of missed chances as they lost their 100% record in a pulsating 3-3 draw with Taunton Civil Service in South East 1 of the Davis Wood league.

As expected the game was played at a frenetic pace with neither side able to dominate the opening exchanges.

After conceding a penalty corner, Vale found themselves a goal down as they were unable to keep out a roofed flick.

As befitting the league leaders, Vale then began to dominate the rest of the half but were unable to convert their chances as a result of poor finishing and good defending from the opposition.

It was left to James Webber to score the equaliser showing great composure to finish in the corner of the net.

The second half saw more of the same as Vale dominated possession and Civil looked threatening on the break.

Vale took the lead after Tom Tridgell glided past the Civil defence and provided a cross for Divan Van Rensburg to finish neatly. A number of chances then went begging for Vale and they were punished again by a penalty corner for the equaliser.

Vale then restored their lead through Matthew Berry but were unable to hang on for the win as Civil again equalised with ten minutes to go leaving a breathless finish with both sides having chances to win.

Scorers for Civil Service were Simon Jones (2) and Lee Slade while Miles Cave was outstanding in goal.

Civil Service A hosted Yeovil and Sherbourne in South East 3.

After a difficult first game against the side, the rematch started slowly.

Play was evenly spread and both keepers were tested during the first half. At the break it remained scoreless.

Following some individual brilliance by Curt Bradley, Taunton CS took the lead and the floodgates opened.

With Yeovil chasing the game, the home side were able to capitalise on the counter-attackand the game finished 4-0.

Scorers were Sam Woodland (2), Jack Daly and Curt Bradley.
