BRIDGWATER Town manager Richard Fey believes his side are in for a tough afternoon when they take on high-flying Didcot Town on Saturday.

Didcot are currently third in the Southern League Division 1 S&W and are unbeaten in their last 12 games, including a 2-2 draw with Conference outfit Forest Green Rovers on Saturday – and Fey knows his side will have to be at their best to come away with a result.

He said: “Yesterday, in the FA Trophy, they got a draw with Forest Green from the Conference, so they have a replay Tuesday night which I will watch.

“This shows they’re a very good side with a big budget hoping to get out of this league.

“Players like Andy Ballard and JP Mills should be playing a lot higher and Mills is top goal-scorer in the league with 29 goals and just turned down a full-time offer from Hereford, so it’s going to be really tough.

“We have been on a great run of late and last week we nearly got three points at league leaders Stratford but we ended with a point which I was over the moon with.

“We’re one point away from the 30-point target I set us and the sooner we get that the better – and then we know we will enjoy another season at this level after everything that has gone on with the club.

“We’re gradually making progress as a club and I hope we get a big turnout on Boxing Day versus Clevedon Town to help the club’s revenue.”

The Boxing Day fixture is Ladies’ day at Fairfax Park and all ladies and under-16s can watch the game for free.

Tom Knighton returns from his three-match ban to take on Didcot but Dean Griffiths starts his four-match suspension following his sending off at Stratford.
