LIME Kiln B visited the Sportsman this week in Division A of the Bridgwater Town Skittles League to play against the A Team.

Opening honours went to the home team whose 57 pulled three pins.

Lime responded in the second hand with a 66 to surge into the lead by seven However, with a poor third hand 50, Sportsman pulled 18 to gain a lead they were not to lose, the closest being the final hand when the visitors outscored the home side by five to give the win to the Sportsman by six.

In Division B, British Flag A hosted the White Hart B team whose first hand 80 was the highest hand seen all night and, pulled six. A poor second hand saw their lead turn into a deficit of three.

The following two hands saw both sides hitting one good and one bad hand, meaning that after the fourth hand, Flag led by six, while Hart reduced the lead to two in the fifth.

A target of 65 to win was set by the home side but, in the end, was unachievable, as Hart lost by eight.

Crown Inn B hosted Mansion House B in Division C. The visitors won the first three hands to lead by 12 going in to the second half of the game. Tom Modley’s 16 followed by Stew Grant’s 14 stopped the rot for the home side reducing the deficit to three.

Mansion House responded with spares of their own in the fifth hand, Jason Hobbs and Trevor Hill both hitting good spares to extend the lead to 15. Crown found form late but took advantage to win the final two hands to win the game by eight.

In Division D, Bunch of Grapes B hosted Market B in a match the Market appeared to enjoy, leading from start to finish.

However, the Bunch found form late in the game to win the final couple of hands bringing the lead back down to 14 from a high of 46.
