Venus 47, Blackdown 29

VENUS booked their place in the second round of the County Cup with a 47-29 victory at Blackdown.

The game started tightly with the Taunton side capitalising on the early mistakes and errors that Venus made in the first quarter.

However the Bridgwater side soon found their feet and with strong passing out of defence between Emily Rossiter and Bex Dunn soon allowed shooters Hannah Setter and Darcie Dunn to regularly find the back of the net.

By half-time the visitors were leading 29-16 and captain and centre Cath Clark continued to rally the Venus side to extend their lead and control of the game.

With a switch of shooters Sophie Cornish and Setter continued to accurately get the ball through the net and extend the lead in Venus' favour to 38-23.

Well deserved player of the match Hannah Setter continued with excellent movement in the circle, fantastic speed and passing in the attacking third as Venus final score in their favour was 47-29.

A great start to the County Cup for the Bridgwater Netball team.
