Schools Under-14s South West Broad Shield
Bridgwater 2, North Somerset 2
BRIDGWATER entertained a free-flowing North Somerset side knowing they were in for a tough battle.
They fell behind when they failed to clear their lines at the second attempt leaving a North Somerset striker time and space in the box.
The visitors increased their lead shortly before half-time when a sweeping move down the right saw a North Somerset striker finish from close range.
The second-half proved a very different affair as Bridgwater started brightly, moving the ball quicker and making the opposition give the ball away cheaply.
Bridgwater reduced the deficit when Tyler Holman reacted well in the box to fire a shot into the corner of the goal. Tyler Atyeo and Jack Phipps added energy and linked well down the right-hand side showing a willing to get forward at pace.
A fine run from the back saw Jacob Mead hit the post – however, it wasn’t long before Tyler Holman levelled, racing clear to coolly finish from the edge of the box.
The remaining 10 minutes saw both teams enter an end-to-end battle which saw both teams go close.
Goalkeeper Charlie Dymond produced a fine low save to keep the scores level at full-time with Bridgwater having produced a fantastic second-half fight back.
The boys can look forward to the rest of the season having set the standard required for all their fixtures this year.
