Somerset 2 South

Morganians 15, Somerton 3

MORGANIANS made it five wins on the bounce with a battling 15-3 victory over Somerton on Saturday.

Somerton began the stronger of the two sides, putting Morgs under some early pressure and kicking a penalty.

But Morgs hit back with a try from Royston Grimstead who barrelled his way over from close range.

The second half started with Morganians on the front foot and Grimstead scored his and Morgs’ second try after a long spell of possession, converted by Will Hopkins.

Further possession and territory was converted into a penalty by Will Hopkins, which ran the game out with a Morgs win of 15-3.

This game was nothing short of a battle for both teams; aggressive attack and committed defence meant there really wasn’t much in it.

Morganians were more clinical with the few chances given and their fitness really did show throughout the team.

Royston Grimstead enjoyed a man-ofthe- match performance, Will Hopkins had a 100% kicking record and was ever a danger from the tap-and-gos, and James Carter had a fine game throwing in the lineout.

l Morganians travel to Wells on December 6 for another crunch match.

l On Saturday, Morganians will field a second team side against Wiveliscombe.
