ROB Long scored with a free kick from his own half for the second week running as Winsham United beat Farway United 9-0 in Division 1 of the Perry Street league.

Long, who also scored in the previous week’s defeat at the hands of Luso-Chard, helped his side regain top spot in the table.

And his exploits seem to be rubbing off on his team-mates as Pat Adams also found the net from long range – in his case 15 yards inside his own half.

Their efforts helped to overshadow the efforts of player-manager Tom Stead who found the net four times. Other goals came from Dan Harvey (2) and Steve Isaacs.

Luso-Chard were unable to repeat their heroics of the previous week, losing 5-3 at Lyme Bantams. Their scorers were Renato Silva (2) and Jose Luis Pinto.

Nathan Wormsley grabbed a hat-trick as Millwey Rise beat Forton Rangers 7-3. Other goals came from Terry Emmett, Sam Dibling, Mark Pike and Dan Murname.

Andy Stevenson (2) and Lee Richardson replied for Forton.

The biggest win in the Premier Division came courtesy of Perry Street who hammered bottom club Ilminster Colts 9-0.

Goalkeeper Jason Contreras scored a penalty while other goals came from Scott Jennings (2), Sam Bond (2), Brad Cleal, Jake Board, Billy Shehan and Dan O’Connor.

West and Middle Chinnock went top of the table thanks to a 7-0 victory over Misterton.

Former Misterton player Sandy Veale claimed a hat-trick, fellow Misterton exile grabbed another, and there were also goals for Dom Williams, Damian Hart and Liam Bennett.

Sam McCaffrey, Wayne Behan and Steve Every all found the net for Combe reserves but it wasn’t enough to prevent a 5-3 defeat at Beaminster.

Simon Denslow scored a hat-trick as Crewkerne Rangers drew 4-4 with Waytown Hounds in Division 2. Rangers’ other scorer was Jack Male.

There was a major shock in Division 3 where bottom club Millwey Rise reserves claimed their first points of the season with a 1-0 victory over table-topping Kingsbury. Nicky Land scored the winning goal inside the first ten minutes.

Barrington reserves are now just one point behind Kingsbury thanks to a 3-2 success at Hawkchurch.

Their scorers were Guy Dare (2) and Chris Butler while Andy Dymond found the net for Hawkchurch to add to an own goal.

South Petherton reserves eased to a 7-1 victory over Thorcombe reserves with goals from Jimmy Rees (2), Ashley Smith (2), Andy Moody, Danny Rendell and Jon Carter. Ashley Allen replied for Thorncombe.

Chris Lang scored twice in Dowlish and Donyatt’s 3-1 victory over Shepton Beauchamp reserves. Gavin Babb was also on target while Jordan Brain was on target for Shepton.

Combe B stay top of Division 4 following a 3-0 defeat of Chard Rangers reserves.

Ashley Spurrell scored against his old side while other scorers were Graham Cleal and Mark Stoodley.

Merriott Rovers stay hot on their heels – with a 100% record – thanks to an 8-2 defeat of Chard United All Stars.

Ashley Cooper and Karl Tweedie both bagged hat-tricks while other scorers were Danny Rudge and Lee Brayshaw. Liam and Paul Male replied for the All Stars.

Uplyme reserves beat Drimpton reserves 5-2 with goals from Craig Coles (2), Brandon Bryant, Niall Waterhouse and Jack Borgeat. George Tuck scored twice for Drimpton.

There was no joy for Perry Street sides in the Somerset Intermediate Cup.

Chard United lost 5-3 to Purnell Sports reserves after extra time despite goals from Stuart Packer and Rob Milsom.

And Merriott Dynamos went down 5-2 against Radstock Town A. Dynamos’ marksmen were Barry Hayne and Ross Weatherall.

In contrast Crewkerne Town enjoyed a 6-2 victory over Newbridge of the Bath and district league in the Somerset Junior Cup. Scorers were Liam Riste (3), Jamie Spurdle (2) and Adam Dawe.
