BEST win of week in the Bridgwater Town Ladies’ Skittles League’s Division 1 was GWR Club A’s 54-pin away win over Crown Inn B pulling pins on six of the seven hands.

Highest individual scores of the week in the Division, both for GWR, were anchor Lauren Bartlett 68 and Charlotte May 67.

Market D pulled their home game against Castle Club A out of the fire with a last hand of 68 to which the Castle could only manage 49 losing 19 on the hand and the match by nine.

Top shots for the Market were Cath Clark 66 and Sharon Hemmings 65, with Pauline Culverwell 65 for the Castle Club.

Last year’s champions, Market A, won their away match to the Bunch of Grapes A who were last year’s runners-up.

There were only four pins in the game at the final hand but the Bunch finished with just 39 while the Market hit 53, pulling 14 and winning by 18.

In the derby at the Blake Hall, the A team needing 41, to win limped over the line with 42 to win by two.

Castle Club B are joint top of Division 2 with a home win over struggling Commercial A by 28. Stars were Jenny Hitchcock and A Middleton, 62, both for the Castle Club.

Lion’s Club B are the other top side, winning at home against Cross Rifles B by 28, pulling on six hands and tying the seventh.

Last season’s Division 3 champions, British Flag A, look like they may well push for honours this year after winning at home by 28 against White Hart B who are struggling this year. Top shot and highest in the Division this week was Sharon Bryant for the Flag with 64.

The Division 3 derby at the Bridgwater Squib, Squib A romped home by 27 in what was a one-sided match. Star of the night and the week was the A side’s Tracey Fursland with 69.

Last year, Blake Arms A were relegated bu,t in their first clash with their host and new team Rugby Club they ran riot, winning six out of the seven hands to win by 75, with their stars Laura Morgan 66 and Lynn Coles 65.
