Monmouth 80, Emeralds 18

EMERALDS suffered a heavy defeat on Saturday after starting with a few good interceptions in defence and managing to turn the ball over.

The attack worked well feeding into the circle and they also had good centre court play - but Monmouth were too strong and gained position too many times.

Throughout the game Emeralds kept fighting.

Players of the match: Tilly, Katie and Emma-Lou; umpire’s vote, Kirsty.

Rubies 12, Tone 52

RUBIES were comprehensively beaten by a strong Tone side.

The first quarter started slowly for Rubies which wasn't helped with the game having to be stopped mid way through due to hail stones.

When the game restarted Tone overturned the ball throughout the court and capitalised on this with Tone taking the lead 14-2.

The second quarter saw some changes to both the attacking and defensive ends which seem to slow Tone down and with some good passes from the defence through the centre court and into the shooting end the second quarter ended 24-5.

Rubies continued to fight hard against a strong Tone team getting some interceptions but Rubies failed to take advantage of this with some silly passes giving the ball away saw the third quarter ending 37-8.

Rubies went all out in the final quarter determined to try to pull back some of the deficit but with some accurate long shots going in for Tone they made it difficult but Rubies kept going until the end and the final score being 52-12 to Tone.

Player of the match went to Kerry Clark and Umpires vote being shared between Helen Martin and Rheanne Lee.

Sapphires 42, Hovelands 76

SAPPHIRES had another tough game in store when they were set to play Hovelands as their third game of the season.

Sapphires started off strong, with controlled game play by Player of the Match Mikki Hole and Katie Ball helped Sapphires make the most of their opportunities.

Laura Coombes played out of position to support Lynne Cornish in the attacking circle, which worked well and helped Sapphires stay in the game against an experienced side.

Despite tight marking from Rheanne Lee and Nic Hale in the defensive circle, Hovelands managed to extend their lead.
