Morganians 8, Bridgwater and Albion II 7

MORGANIANS snatched a one-point victory over Bridgwater & Albion II in a hard-fought local derby on Saturday.

The game started off well for the home team with some impressive rugby, but the visitors opened the scoring with their number eight bowling over the try line from a scrum.

The conversion was successful, but Morganians responded well with aggressive breakdown play and making yards for fun.

Unfortunately, they were not able to turn this into points.

The second half saw Morganians come out fighting, and impressive runs from Royston Grimstead and Ryan Rossiter ensured that they continued to put pressure on the opposition.

It was inevitable that the home team would score, and when they won a penalty in front of the posts Will Hopkins stepped up and slotted the ball through the sticks.

Shortly after, Morganians. dominance in the forwards meant they were able to record their only try of the game when Geoff Thompson barrelled over the line to score.

The conversion was missed, leaving the score at 8-7, but the home team still had 20 minutes to close out the game.

Albion had three chances to take the win with kickable penalties, but all were off target as Morgs held on.

This week, Morgs travel to newly promoted Wellington, looking to strengthen their already strong league position.
