BRADLEY Scott, Tony Allsopp, John Treasure, Cameron Bundy and Gary Taylor were victorious in the men’s summer knock-out tournaments at Tiverton.

Scott claimed the Captain’s Prize, Allsopp lifted the Tommy Tucker Scratch Cup, Treasure won the Brock-Mills-Perkins event for higher-handicappers and Bundy and Taylor triumphed in the Summer Foursomes.

Teenager Scott pipped Steve Garland 1 up in a rollercoaster 36-hole Captain’s Prize final on Sunday, having been 3 down after the first 18.

Scott got back to all-square by the 4th in the second round and proceeded to go 4 up after 13, only for Garland to win the next three holes and reduce the deficit to one.

Halves on the 17th and 18th enabled Scott to hang on for victory.

Scott reached the final by knocking out Ricky Cruse, Chem Austin, Mark Butt, Jay Buckingham and then Keith Williams in the semis.

Garland progressed by overcoming Allsopp, Norman Ford, Sam Heard and Mike Eastmond before edging out Heath Ellis on the fifth extra hole in the semis.

In the Tommy Tucker Scratch Cup, Allsopp received a bye in the first round and beat Nick Konig, Simon Waddington and Harry Konig before defeating Lee Scott in the final.

Scott knocked out Rhys Cruse, Bundy and Martin Selby en route to the final.

Treasure overcame Ed Blackmore in the final of the Brock-Mills-Perkins competition, having beaten Tony Sykes and Mike Chorley in the earlier rounds.

Blackmore got past Derek Garnsworthy and fellow junior Joe Pike.

Bundy and Taylor defeated Les Hartley and David Jack, Eastmond and Roger Norton, Peter Boax and Paul Steele plus Lee Scott and Josh Tidborough in their passage to the Summer Foursomes final, where they saw off Tom Hanson and Steve Hill.

Hanson and Hill got through by beating Andy Brice and Steve Jack, Carl Skinner and Paul Mitchell, George Sampson and Tom Waldron plus Tim Durrant and Chris Garnsworthy.

Home player Nick Conabeare teamed up with visitors P Evans, K Woolacott and P Carr to win the men's fourball open on Saturday.

The quartet scored 88 stableford points to win on a countback from the all-Tiverton team of Peter Boax, Tony Allsopp, Martin Selby and Paul Steele.

Also in the prizes were Mike Holder, Mark Davitt, Steve Buchanan and S Tolley (86), J Brock, D Pengelly, S Day-Hitchin and K Oxley (85), Russell Jarman, Ced Gibbons, Tony Sykes and John Webber-Rookes (83), Andy Brice, Roy Ireland, Andy Bolt and Derek Cruwys (82) and D Clarke, D Hill, A Cole and A Clegg (82).

Tiverton won the veterans' MET Shield at Enmore Park.

Tiverton's eight-man team pulled off an excellent one-point victory over the hosts, 325 to 324, with Minehead in third place.

Captain Ed Tansey and Roger Norton had the best score of the day with 47.

Karen Allsopp's lady captain's team beat Judy Phripp’s vice-captain's side 12½-8½ in their annual challenge match.
