CHARD Town’s squad has been boosted by the signing of experienced utility man Scott Holland.

Holland, 33, has made the switch from Toolstation premier division side Street and should make his debut for the Robins at home to Warminster today (3pm).

Chard manager Adam Fricker said: “I played with Scott at Wellington so I know him pretty well.

“He will give the squad some much-needed depth and experience and can play centre back, midfield, or even up front.

“He leads by example but is also a very good talker so it’s great he’s agreed to join us.”

The Robins, who are unbeaten in three matches, will approach Saturday’s game with plenty of confidence, especially as Warminster have lost seven of their 12 matches to date.

Chard are unbeaten on a Saturday this season, and with no midweek game as a distraction they should be in good shape for this weekend.

On Tuesday week Chard recovered from 3-1 down at Westbury to draw 3-3 thanks to two goals from Sam Clark and one from Oscar Latas.

Then on Saturday they also came from behind to win at Chippenham Park.

After a slow start they found themselves 1-0 after ten minutes.

But Lewis Gillman equalised from close range after an Adam Cole effort was saved.

Then skipper-for-the-day Andy Martin fired home a superb volley from 30 yards to snatch all three points.

Goalkeeper Jason Hutchings is a doubt for the Warminster game after injuring his knee in the first minute against Chippenham but with Clark and Latas hitting top form it should be the visitors’ keeper who has most to do.
