SHEPTON Beauchamp again stole the headlines as they carried their excellent league form into the Somerset Junior Cup where they beat Middlezoy Rovers 7-1.

George Pugson opened the scoring and his goal was followed by a double from Dan Smith to see the hosts go in at the half way stage with a three goal lead.

Rovers reduced the arrears soon after the restart, but Shepton quickly extended the advantage with strikes by Dougie Whitfield and Justin Sweet.

Sixteen-year-old Jack White was next to get his name on the scoresheet before Smith completed his hat-trick and the scoring.

Another side to book their place in the next round were West & Middle Chinnock, who won by the odd goal in three at Stoke sub Hamdon.

Johnny Jackson gave the winners an interval lead and this was added to after the break when Paul Olawuni rounded the keeper to tap the ball into an empty net. Stoke pulled a goal back with 20 minutes remaining, however the Chinnock’s held on for victory.

Combe St Nicholas Reserves required extra-time before beating Dorset league side Marnhull 4-2 at home.

Craig Every’s strike just before the break cancelled out the visitors opening goal and when Wayne Behan put Combe ahead early in the second half, it looked as though the hosts would win with ease.

But the inability to add to their tally and a breakaway goal by their opponents forced an added 30 minutes.

In extra-time, Ben Sheahan regained the advantage for Combe when he scored direct from a free kick and victory was assured with a strike by Stuart Bicknell.

Crewkerne Town didn’t have it all their own way at home to Bath & District League side Trowbridge House despite Pete Symes putting them ahead after just two minutes.

The visitors found the net either side of the interval to take a 2-1 lead, but goals from Adam Dawe, Jamie Spurdle and Anthony Trubridge put Town back in control before the visitors reduced the deficit to a single goal with five minutes left on the clock.

Grant Symes and Sam Bond were on target for Perry Street who had difficulty in raising a side for their tie against AFC Brislington and went out of the competition following a 3-2 defeat.

Also making an early exit were South Petherton, who were beaten 5-0 by Pen Mill.

In Division One, Barrington are the early season favourites to make a return to the Premier Division as they continued their unbeaten start with a 3-0 success against Netherbury.

Guy Dare gave Barrington the lead when a long throw-in was flicked on to him by Sam Spurway. And it was Spurway who doubled the advantage in the second half.

The total was completed when Dare bagged his second goal of the afternoon ten minutes from time. Chris Reed had an excellent game for the winners in his central midfield role.

Also unbeaten after three games are Winsham United whose latest victory came at the expense of visitors Lyme Regis Bantams who went down 6-1.

Bradley Masters and Shane Partridge were on target for the home side before Mark Batey netted to give Lyme hope of claiming their third successive win, but when Partridge had added another two goals to complete his first half hat-trick it was as good as over.

The winners’ total was completed with goals from Dan Harvey and substitute Steve Isaacs who scored with his second touch of the ball after replacing player/manager Tom Stead with ten minutes remaining.

Pymore suffered their third defeat from as many starts when they went down 2-0 at home to Chard United. Kamil Wilk and Stuart Packer hit a goal each for the winners.

A narrow 4-3 win at Uplyme saw Drimpton cling on to pole position in Division Two. Goals from Jordan Watts and Chris Rowswell were cancelled out by a brace from Uplyme’s Jake Bearpark, but the visitors hit back to open up a two goal lead through Adam Tanner and Terry Farrell.

Bearpark then completed his treble for the Devonians, who came close to snatching a share of the spoils when Mark Taylor’s effort was cleared off the line.

A 6-0 defeat by Thorncombe means Ilminster Town A prop up the table and have still to find the net during this campaign.

Once Wayne Stanton put the Thorns ahead there was only going to be one winner and they soon added further goals through Bryan Garrett (3) and a brace from Lee Fisher.

Charmouth got their first points on the board when Elliott Gillings, Danny Rendall and an own goal was enough to earn a 3-2 win over Beaminster in the all-Dorset derby match.

Crewkerne Town Reserves came out on top when they took on local rivals Crewkerne Rangers.

And it was ex-Rangers man Tom Broome who gave Town the lead after only two minutes. He then added a second goal before strikes by Kieran Adams, Seb Payne and Paul Gold moved the winners into an unassailable lead.

Rangers gained a small consolation late on thanks to an own goal.

A goal by Nathan Loader brought Combe A their first point in a 1-1 draw against Waytown Hounds.

Kingsbury appear to be taking life in Division Three in their stride following promotion last term, as they claimed a third win of the season by beating hosts Chard United Reserves 2-0.

Shane Reeks and Ben Norman hit a goal apiece for the winners whose next match is against Merriott Dynamos, one of the sides who were promoted with them.

Dowlish & Donyatt failed to maintain their winning run as they lost by the odd goal in five at home to Barrington Reserves.

Gethyn Jenkins (who was later sent off), Wes King and Jake Woodard hit a goal apiece for the winners, while the Dowlish marksmen were Jon Bartlett and Chris Lang.

Following the previous week’s defeat against Kingsbury, Hawkchurch bounced back to winning ways with a 4-2 defeat of South Petherton Reserves thanks to goals from Luke Harding, Andy Dymond, Stewart Weir and Jamie Harris. Jimmy Rees scored twice for Pethy.

Merriott Dynamos were leading hosts Thorncombe Reserves 2-0 when the game was abandoned in the 73rd minute.

Lewis Roper and Lewis Fisher had found the net for Dynamos before the game was abandoned when the visitors midfielder Adam Swinnerton sustained a broken ankle and there was a lengthy delay waiting for the ambulance to arrive. It remains to be seen if the result will stand.

In Division Four the reserve sides of Forton Rangers and Misterton have been struggling recently to field a side through lack of numbers. However, both got their seasons up and running on Saturday with different results.

Two strikes by Andy Stevenson brought Rangers a 2-1 victory against Farway United Reserves.

Meanwhile goals from Neil Hawkins, Jordan Turner and Joe Djeebet couldn’t save Misterton from a 4-3 defeat at Combe B. Ian Banfield (2), Darren Brown and Joe Simmons scored for Combe who move two points clear at the top of the table.

Hinton St George remain in second spot after they shared four goals with visitors Winsham United Reserves.

Matt Crabb gave Winsham a half time lead, but Hinton hit back after the break to go ahead with goals from Jack Fussell and Ross Jewell. Winsham substitute Jordan Fowler’s first touch was to set up Jamie Sweet to level the scores.

Three goals from Sam Healy put Crewkerne Rangers Reserves on the way to a convincing 5-1 victory at Chard United All Stars where Joe Allen was the home sides lone scorer.

The winners’ other goals came from Martin Russell and an opponent.
