BRIDGWATER & District Skittles League committee had a friendly match against the champions of the 2013 Men’s Main Division, Pawlett Pins, on Friday and won by five pins.

Top scorers were Terry Innalls for the Committee, hitting 63, and Lewis Hembery for Pawlett Pins, with 52.

The Committee would like to thank Pawlett Pins for participating and the Great Western Railway Club for providing a hearty supper and for their hospitality.

On Friday, the League held their annual Highest Score Competition at the Blake Arms.

Players were: Men – Chris Marks (Rebellions); Neil Perkins (Mixed Bunch); Phil Court (Split Happens); Sam Dennison (Gentle Giants) and Richard Curtis (Birdies). Ladies – Pauline Culverwell (Castlettes); Mary Burge (Rebellions); Avril Frost (Trumpeters); Lindsey Parsons (Global Girls); Becky Palmer (Split Happens); Alli Lazenby (Patsy's Pussies) and Claire Harris (Mothers Pride).

The competition was played as a normal summer league game with six hands and the winners were Ladies: George Ardren Memorial Cup – Avril Frost (Trumpeters) with 54 (14,13,9,6,6,6); Men: Bill Creedy Memorial Cup – Richard Curtis (Birdies) with 69 (7,16,7,15,17,7).

The Committee would like to thank the players for their competitive spirit on what was a very enjoyable evening.

The Committee would also like to thank the Blake Arms for agreeing to hold the competition at their premises and for the wonderful food provided.

The final celebration for the 2014 season is the Presentation Evening which is to be held at the Castle Club on Friday, September 19, from 7pm to late.

As well as the presentation of Trophies to the winners, there will be a race night, raffle and buffet. An entrance fee of £1 per person on the door.
