TAUNTON’S Nat Pepperell has decided to leave the club to take an indefinite break from football.

Pepperell signed permanently for the Peacocks at the beginning of the 2013-14 season after two previous loan spells and went on to finish as top goalscorer as well as firing the winner in the Somerset Premier Cup Final.

However he has now made the decision to step away from the sport after struggling to enjoy playing in the last few years.

Manager Leigh Robinson said: “We are obviously disappointed that Nat has come to this decision as he is a fantastic lad who will be badly missed in the dressing room, but the decision itself doesn’t come as a massive surprise.

“I’ve been aware for some time, as have most of the players, that he was struggling to regain his love for the game.

“Nat has undoubtedly made the right decision to walk away as he admitted he didn’t want to continue taking wages from the club and turning up for the wrong reasons.

“We wish him all the best and hope to see him down at the Viridor Stadium watching games when possible.”
