Tiverton’s veterans bowed out of the Emerton-Court Trophy after a thrilling semi-final against Staddon Heights.

Tiverton lost 3-2 at home in the first leg and needed to win by a bigger margin away to reach the final.

With the score at 2-2, Tiverton needed captain Ed Tansey and Peter Stuckey to win the last game to take the semi to a sudden-death play-off.

All-square going down the 17th, Staddon sank a long downhill putt to halve the hole and then won the 18th to clinch another 3-2 win and a 6-4 victory on aggregate.

Earlier, victories for Ian Brierley and Mike Eastmond (4 and 3) and John Phripp and Colin Taylor (2 and 1) were offset by losses for Derek Marshman and Derrick Barrett (3 and 2) and Gerry Franklin and David Jack (4 and 3).
