PADBROOK Park Golf Club has won the East Devon League Trophy for the first time.

The Cullompton club took the eight-man team event with a betterball stableford score of 145 points.

Fingle Glen took second place, five points adrift.

Padbrook still have a chance of claiming the East Devon League title itself – they need a win their final match and hope other results go their way.

Padbrook’s Seniors have given themselves an excellent chance of reaching the final of the Emerton Court Trophy.

They opened up a three-point lead after the home leg of their semi-final against Yelverton.

They need 1.5 points from five in their away match to secure a first ever final berth.

At least half a dozen players could still win the John Emerton Cup going into the final round.

The season-long event for midweek stableford has three players tied in the lead – Ray Cavill, Steve Held and Pete Waters are the front runners.

Waters is the form player, winning the most recent counting event.

Results: Midweek Stableford – 1 P Waters 21, 2 G Stevenson 20, 3 S Held 19, 4 R Asson 19, 5 C Manley 17, 6 I White 16. John Emerton Cup (with one event to play): T1 R Cavill, S Held, P Waters 22pts, 4 C Manley 20, 5 G Stevenson 18, 6 A Pym 17.
